Mint alternatives

The best Mint alternatives in 2026

Mint shut down in March 2024, and Intuit moved its users to Credit Karma. If you still miss the app that pulled every account into one place, here are seven replacements, ranked by how well they answer the question Mint was built for: where did my money go?

Quick pick

Pick Sprout AI if you want Mint's all-accounts view without rebuilding budgets. Connect your US or Canadian banks and ask where your money went, with the accounts and dates behind every answer. Pick Monarch Money for the closest Mint-style budgeting dashboard, YNAB for a strict zero-based method, and Empower if a free net-worth tracker is all you need.

  1. 1Sprout AI

Best for: Asking where your money went, in plain EnglishUS$99.99/yr or US$9.99/wk (CA$129.99/yr in Canada), as of Oct 2026iPhone, iPad, Mac, web, Claude

Mint showed you charts and left the detective work to you. Sprout AI starts from your question. Connect your bank and card accounts through Plaid, read-only, then ask "What did I spend on eating out since June?" or "Which subscriptions went up this year?" Every answer names the accounts and date range it used, so you can check the math. Sprout works with eligible banks in the United States and Canada, keeps USD and CAD in their own currencies, and runs natively on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It also connects to Claude, and its ChatGPT app is in review.

    Strengths

    • Plain-English answers with receipts: the accounts and dates behind every reply.
    • US and Canadian banks through Plaid, with USD and CAD never mixed.
    • Native iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps, plus a Claude connector.

    Trade-offs

    • No category envelopes or rollover budgets. You ask budget questions instead.
    • Not on Android, and no investment portfolio tracking.
    • The free trial lasts 3 days on iPhone, shorter than most apps here.
  2. 2Monarch Money

Best for: Mint-style dashboards and budgets, shared with a partner$99.99/yr or $14.99/mo (Plus $199.99/yr), as of Oct 2026Web, iPhone, iPad, Android

Monarch Money feels the most like a modern Mint. It pulls in banks, cards, loans, investments, and home values, then lays everything out in budgets, cash-flow reports, and net-worth charts. You can use Flex Budgeting or classic category budgets with rollovers, and share a household view with a partner. Monarch connects through Plaid, Finicity, or MX, and its AI Assistant answers questions about your data. It supports the US and Canada, though prices are billed in USD and it doesn't convert between currencies. Core comes with a 7-day trial.

    Strengths

    • Budgets, cash flow, investments, and net worth in one dashboard.
    • Three data providers, and you can switch provider per connection.
    • Household sharing, plus Android and web.

    Trade-offs

    • No native Mac app. On a Mac, Monarch runs in the browser.
    • No currency conversion, so mixed CAD and USD totals can mislead.
    • Its MCP connector for outside AI assistants has been paused since June 2026.
  3. 3Copilot Money

Best for: Polished Apple apps for US-only households$95/yr or $13/mo, as of Oct 2026iPhone, iPad, Mac, web

Copilot Money is a carefully designed tracker for Apple devices, with a native Mac app and a web app that launched in December 2025. It connects through Plaid, Mastercard, MX, and Akoya, with direct links for Apple Card, Capital One, Coinbase, and Venmo. Budgets are built from your spending history and can roll over each month. The catch for some former Mint users is coverage: Copilot works with US-based accounts only. Its Money Assistant and its MCP connector are both betas behind a waitlist. You get a full month to try it.

    Strengths

    • Native Mac app alongside iPhone, iPad, and web.
    • Direct connections for Apple Card, Capital One, Coinbase, and Venmo.
    • A one-month free trial.

    Trade-offs

    • US-based accounts only, so Canadian banks are out.
    • Money Assistant and the MCP connector are waitlisted betas.
    • Not on Android or Windows.
  4. 4YNAB

Best for: Zero-based budgeting with a proven method$109/yr or $14.99/mo, as of Oct 2026Web, iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple Watch

YNAB (You Need A Budget) asks more of you than Mint did, and that is the point. You give every dollar a job before you spend it, following four rules, and YNAB's lessons help the habit stick. Direct import works with select US, Canadian, UK, and EU banks, and up to six people can share one subscription. The bank connection is read-only. YNAB has no in-app AI that reads your data, and its official ChatGPT app answers general questions without seeing your accounts. The 34-day trial needs no card, and students get a year free.

    Strengths

    • A clear zero-based method with strong teaching.
    • Direct import for select US and Canadian banks.
    • One subscription for up to six people, and a 34-day trial.

    Trade-offs

    • Hands-on: you assign and reconcile money yourself.
    • No AI that answers questions about your own transactions.
    • No native Mac app, and one currency per plan.
  5. 5Quicken Simplifi

Best for: A low-cost spending plan in the US or Canada$84.99/yr or $9.99/mo in the US App Store, as of Oct 2026Web, iPhone, iPad, Android

Quicken Simplifi replaces Mint's budget page with a Spending Plan: your income minus bills and savings, showing what's left to spend. It projects cash flow forward, lists your subscriptions, and supports both the US and Canada, in USD or CAD, one currency at a time. Quicken AI, a beta chat for Basic subscribers, can search your transactions and propose changes for your approval, but it can't remember past conversations yet. There's no free trial. Purchases on quicken.com come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and web promotions lower the first-year price.

    Strengths

    • Spending Plan and projected cash flow in one view.
    • US and Canadian accounts, with CAD supported.
    • Low App Store price, with first-year web promotions.

    Trade-offs

    • One currency at a time, so mixed US and Canadian households see gaps.
    • Quicken AI is in beta, with no memory between conversations.
    • No native Mac app and no free trial.
  6. 6Empower Personal Dashboard

Best for: Free net-worth and retirement trackingFree dashboard, as of Oct 2026Web, iPhone, iPad, Android

Empower's free dashboard, formerly Personal Capital, is the best fit if Mint's net-worth chart was your favorite screen. It links bank, credit, loan, mortgage, and investment accounts, then adds a Retirement Planner and a check on investment fees. Budgeting is lighter: a monthly spending target and cash-flow views. Empower's business includes managed investing, where Personal Strategy charges 0.89% a year starting at $100,000 invested, and its terms allow promotional calls and texts unless you opt out. Account linking works with US financial institutions only.

    Strengths

    • Free, with no time limit.
    • Strong net-worth, retirement, and investment-fee tools.
    • Bank, credit, loan, mortgage, and investment accounts in one view.

    Trade-offs

    • Links US financial institutions only.
    • Light budgeting and no AI chat over your data.
    • Managed-investing upsell, and the terms allow promotional calls and texts.
  7. 7Rocket Money

Best for: Subscription help with a free starting tierFree; Premium pay-what-you-want; Premium+ $15/mo, as of Oct 2026iPhone, Android; web for Premium

Rocket Money, formerly Truebill, suits ex-Mint users who mostly want to catch recurring charges. The free tier covers basic tracking with a limited number of budgets. Premium, priced at what you think is fair, adds unlimited budgets and a subscription cancellation concierge. Premium+ at $15 a month adds Rowan, an AI agent for select members. From November 2, 2026, bill negotiation becomes a Premium+ feature only. Rocket Money serves US users with US-based banks, and its web dashboard is for Premium members.

    Strengths

    • A free tier to start with.
    • Cancellation concierge and bill negotiation if you want help acting.
    • A 7-day trial of Premium.

    Trade-offs

    • US banks only.
    • Bill negotiation moves to Premium+ only on November 2, 2026.
    • No iPad or native Mac app, and web access requires Premium.

How we picked

We ranked these apps for people who used Mint and want something that does the same job in 2026. Prices, platforms, and features come from each company's own pricing page, help center, and App Store listing, checked on October 13, 2026. We didn't invent ratings or test scores. Five criteria decided the order:

  • Answers over admin: how fast you can find out where your money went without categorizing by hand.
  • Coverage: which countries' banks connect, and how currencies are handled.
  • Platforms: native apps for the devices you use, including Mac.
  • AI over your own data: whether it's generally available, in beta, or missing.
  • Hands off your money: whether the app stays read-only or also sells loans, advances, or account actions.

Sprout AI is our product, made by MindCrafters LLC, and we rank it first because it scores best on the criteria above. That ranking is our judgment. No company paid to appear on this page, and links to other apps are plain links with no affiliate payments. Where another app beats Sprout, its entry says so.

What happened to Mint

Intuit announced in late 2023 that Mint was going away, and the app shut down in March 2024. Mint users were offered an opt-in move to Intuit Credit Karma, which carried over most account balances, historical net worth, and three years of transactions, according to CNBC. Moving to Credit Karma ended access to Mint itself.

Today the Mint website says Mint "has been reimagined on Credit Karma." When Mint closed, Intuit told CNBC that Credit Karma did not offer monthly and category budgets. That gap is why so many former Mint users went looking for a new home, and why a whole category of paid apps grew to fill it.

Which Mint feature do you miss most?

Mint did three jobs. It gathered every account, it sorted spending into categories, and it nudged you with budgets and alerts. Most replacements do one or two of those well. Decide which job matters most to you, then use the table to find the app that leads on it.

Two questions settle most choices. First, do you want a budget you maintain, or answers you can ask for? Second, are all your accounts in the US? If you bank in Canada, Copilot Money, Rocket Money, and Empower drop off the list.

Moving from Mint to a new app

Mint is gone, so there's no live account to migrate from. You'll connect your banks fresh in whichever app you choose, and the app pulls in your recent transactions from there. Plan on one evening to set things up and one month to judge the result.

If you moved to Credit Karma when Mint closed, you don't have to leave it. Credit Karma can keep watching your credit while a dedicated app handles spending, budgets, or questions. These four steps make the switch painless.

  1. Look before you connect

Sprout opens with fictional sample data, so you can ask a few questions before linking a bank. Most other apps here offer a free trial, so try the one you're leaning toward first.

  2. Connect your accounts

Most apps pull in recent history when you connect a bank. How far back depends on your bank and the connection, so check the first sync before you rely on older months.

  3. Keep your old Mint export

If you downloaded your transactions before Mint closed, keep the file. Some apps accept file imports, so check what your new app supports before you throw it away.

  4. Review one full month

Give your new app a full month of real spending before you judge it. That's long enough to see your recurring charges, a full pay cycle, and how well it sorts your merchants.

Common questions

Straight answers.

When did Mint shut down?

Mint shut down in March 2024. Intuit announced the closure in late 2023 and offered Mint users an opt-in move to Credit Karma, which brought over most balances, historical net worth, and three years of transactions. The Mint website now points visitors to Credit Karma.

Is Credit Karma a good Mint replacement?

It depends on what you used Mint for. When Mint closed, Intuit told CNBC that Credit Karma did not offer monthly and category budgets. If budgets or detailed answers about your spending were the reason you used Mint, a dedicated app on this list will fit better.

What is the best free Mint alternative?

Empower's dashboard is free and strongest on net worth and retirement planning. Rocket Money has a free tier with paid upgrades. Both link US accounts only. Sprout AI, Monarch Money, Copilot Money, YNAB, and Quicken Simplifi are paid apps.

Which Mint alternative works in Canada?

Sprout AI, Monarch Money, YNAB, and Quicken Simplifi all connect Canadian banks. Sprout keeps USD and CAD separate in every answer. Monarch bills in USD and doesn't convert currencies, and Simplifi handles one currency at a time. See Sprout in Canada.

Which Mint alternative has a Mac app?

On this list, Sprout AI and Copilot Money have native Mac apps on the Mac App Store. Monarch, YNAB, Simplifi, Empower, and Rocket Money rely on the web or their iPhone and iPad apps on a Mac. See Sprout on Mac.

Does Sprout AI move money or cancel subscriptions?

No. Sprout is read-only. It finds your recurring charges, estimates the next date, and shows the yearly cost, and you cancel the ones you don't want yourself. It can't move money, pay bills, or offer loans or cash advances. Read more on security.

Ask Sprout where your money went.

Connect your accounts read-only, ask in plain English, and get the number with the receipts. 3 days free on iPhone if eligible.
