Sprout AI vs Rocket Money
Sprout AI vs Rocket Money: done for you, or answered for you?
Rocket Money is built to act on your behalf: it tracks subscriptions for free, and its paid tiers add a cancellation concierge, bill negotiation, and savings. Sprout AI is built to answer, so you ask about your spending in plain English and get the number with the accounts and dates behind it, read-only.
The verdict
Choose Rocket Money if you are in the US and want a free tier, a team to handle cancellations, or bill negotiation. Choose Sprout AI if you want fast answers you can check, an app that never touches your money, Canadian bank support, native iPad and Mac apps, or your spending inside Claude.

The core difference
Rocket Money is a done-for-you service. It finds your subscriptions, and on Premium its concierge can cancel many of them on your behalf. Its bill negotiation team works to lower your bills, and its savings features move money for you. For people who want chores taken off their plate, that is the appeal, and it is a real one.
Sprout AI is the answer engine. It reads your accounts, never acts on them, and answers questions like "Which subscriptions went up this year?" with the charges, dates, and accounts behind them. You decide what to cancel or change, and you do it yourself with the full picture in front of you.
Subscriptions: tracking versus cancelling
Both apps find recurring charges. Rocket Money's free plan includes subscription tracking, and cancellations are a Premium feature; its own pricing article says the team usually takes 2 to 10 days to cancel a subscription. Sprout's subscription tracker detects repeating charges, estimates the next date, shows the yearly cost, and flags price changes.
The difference is the last step. Sprout will not cancel or negotiate anything. It gives you a clear list so you can cancel with the merchant or in your Apple subscriptions yourself. Detections are estimates to review, and our guide to finding every subscription walks through it. The free subscription cost calculator shows what they add up to.
Price and trial, honestly
Rocket Money is cheaper to start, because the free tier costs nothing. As of October 2026, Premium uses a pay-what-you-think-is-fair model that Rocket Money says typically falls between US$7 and US$14 a month, and Premium+ costs US$15 a month. New Premium members get a 7-day free trial.
Bill negotiation pricing is changing. Rocket Money's Terms say that from November 2, 2026, bill negotiation is exclusively a Premium+ feature. Until then, negotiations on Free and Premium cost 35% to 60% of the first year's savings. Sprout Plus costs US$99.99 a year or US$9.99 a week, or CA$129.99 a year in Canada, with a 3-day trial on iPhone for eligible Apple accounts.
Platforms and countries
Rocket Money is phone-first. Its App Store listing is for iPhone, the same app runs on Macs with Apple silicon, and it is available on Android. The Rocket Money website is reserved for Premium members. Sprout has native apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, plus a web app, but no Android version.
Rocket Money says it is only available to users in the United States with US-based banks. Sprout connects to eligible US and Canadian banks through Plaid and keeps CAD and USD in their own currencies, never combined. If your bank is in Canada and eligible, Sprout can include it. See Sprout for Canada.
AI and money movement
Rocket Money's AI assistant, Rowan, works over text message and is included with Premium+. Rocket Money says Rowan can help cancel subscriptions, lower bills, send financial summaries, and warn you about price increases or low balances, with human verification in its cancellation and negotiation workflows. It is a capable agent built to act.
Sprout's AI reads, answers, and stops there. It cannot move money, pay bills, change accounts, cancel subscriptions, or dispute charges. You can ask in the Sprout app or through the Claude connector, and a ChatGPT app is in review. If you would rather no software acts on your accounts, Sprout is built for you.
