Copilot Money alternatives

The best Copilot Money alternatives in 2026

Copilot Money is one of the best-looking money apps on iPhone and Mac, but it works with US-based accounts only and its Money Assistant is still a waitlisted beta. These six alternatives cover the gaps, from Canadian banks to Android to AI answers you can use today.

Quick pick

Pick Sprout AI if you love Copilot's native Apple apps but bank in Canada or want AI chat without a waitlist. It runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, connects US and Canadian banks, and answers questions with receipts today. Pick Monarch Money if you need Android or a shared household budget, and YNAB for zero-based budgeting.

  1. 1Sprout AI

Best for: Apple-first AI answers in the US and CanadaUS$99.99/yr or US$9.99/wk (CA$129.99/yr in Canada), as of Oct 2026iPhone, iPad, Mac, web, Claude

Sprout AI is the closest match to Copilot's Apple-first feel, with two differences that matter. It connects eligible banks in Canada as well as the US, and its AI chat is the main way you use it, available to every Sprout Plus subscriber. Ask "What did I spend at Costco this year?" or "Which charges look like duplicates?" and Sprout shows the total and the transactions behind it. Native apps run on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets and a Live Activity for today's spending.

    Strengths

    • AI chat generally available, with the accounts and dates on every answer.
    • US and Canadian banks, with CAD and USD kept separate.
    • Native iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps, plus a live Claude connector.

    Trade-offs

    • No category budgets or rollovers like Copilot's.
    • Not on Android either.
    • US$99.99 a year is a few dollars more than Copilot, and the iPhone trial is 3 days versus Copilot's month.
  2. 2Monarch Money

Best for: Android, web, and shared household budgets$99.99/yr or $14.99/mo (Plus $199.99/yr), as of Oct 2026Web, iPhone, iPad, Android

Monarch Money is the usual next stop for Copilot users who need Android or want to manage money with a partner. It runs on the web, iPhone, iPad, and Android, connects through Plaid, Finicity, and MX, and supports Canadian banks, billed in USD and without currency conversion. Its AI Assistant answers questions about your data and is available now. You give up Copilot's native Mac app, since Monarch runs in the browser on a Mac. Core costs $99.99 a year after a 7-day trial.

    Strengths

    • Android and web as well as iPhone and iPad.
    • Household sharing and three data providers.
    • AI Assistant available now, and Canadian banks supported.

    Trade-offs

    • No native Mac app.
    • No currency conversion for mixed CAD and USD accounts.
    • Its MCP connector has been paused since June 2026.
  3. 3YNAB

Best for: Zero-based budgeting, including in Canada$109/yr or $14.99/mo, as of Oct 2026Web, iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple Watch

If you want a stricter method than Copilot's history-based budgets, YNAB is built for zero-based budgeting. You give every dollar a job using YNAB's four rules and plan ahead for big expenses before they land. YNAB imports directly from select US, Canadian, UK, and EU banks, works on Android as well as Apple devices, and lets up to six people share one subscription. There's no native Mac app and no AI that reads your transactions. It's $109 a year after a 34-day trial.

    Strengths

    • Built for zero-based budgeting.
    • Canadian direct import and Android support.
    • A 34-day trial with no card.

    Trade-offs

    • No native Mac app.
    • No AI over your own data.
    • More setup and upkeep than Copilot.
  4. 4Quicken Simplifi

Best for: Cash-flow planning on a budget, US or Canada$84.99/yr or $9.99/mo in the US App Store, as of Oct 2026Web, iPhone, iPad, Android

Quicken Simplifi looks forward as well as back. Its Spending Plan shows what's left after bills and savings, and projected cash flow shows where your balance is heading. It supports US and Canadian accounts in USD or CAD, one currency at a time, and runs on the web, iPhone, iPad, and Android. Quicken AI, in beta for Basic subscribers, can search transactions and propose changes you approve. It's $84.99 a year in the US App Store, cheaper than Copilot, though there's no free trial.

    Strengths

    • Projected cash flow and a Spending Plan.
    • US and Canadian accounts.
    • A lower App Store price than Copilot.

    Trade-offs

    • No native Mac app.
    • Quicken AI is a beta with no memory between chats.
    • No free trial, only a 30-day money-back guarantee on quicken.com purchases.
  5. 5PocketGuard

Best for: A lifetime plan and a simple safe-to-spend number$74.99/yr, $12.99/mo, or $149.99 lifetime, as of Oct 2026Web, iPhone, Android

PocketGuard is for Copilot users who want less to look at. Its Leftover number subtracts expenses and goals from income so you know what's safe to spend, and you can switch to zero-based, envelope, or 50/30/20 styles. It covers the US, Canada, and the UK, and sells a $149.99 lifetime plan alongside $74.99 a year. PocketGuard says it never moves your money, and it has no AI chat over your data. Its help center lists ongoing sync issues with several major Canadian banks.

    Strengths

    • A $149.99 lifetime option.
    • A simple Leftover number, with envelope and 50/30/20 modes.
    • US, Canada, and UK support, plus Android.

    Trade-offs

    • Listed sync issues with major Canadian banks.
    • No AI chat over your data.
    • No iPad or Mac app.
  6. 6Empower Personal Dashboard

Best for: Free investment and net-worth tracking in the USFree dashboard, as of Oct 2026Web, iPhone, iPad, Android

If you used Copilot mostly to watch investments and net worth, Empower's free dashboard covers that well. It links bank, credit, loan, mortgage, and investment accounts, then adds a Retirement Planner and an investment fee check. Like Copilot, it links US accounts only. Budgeting is basic, and there's no AI chat. Empower's business includes managed investing, with fees starting at 0.89% a year, and its terms allow promotional calls and texts unless you opt out.

    Strengths

    • Free.
    • Retirement Planner and investment fee analysis.
    • Apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android, plus the web.

    Trade-offs

    • Links US institutions only.
    • Basic budgeting and no AI chat.
    • Managed-investing upsell.

Why look beyond Copilot Money

Copilot earns its reputation. It has native apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, a web app since December 2025, direct connections for Apple Card and Venmo, and an Apple Editor's Choice badge. If you're in the US, happy on Apple devices, and fine with a classic budget, it's a strong pick.

Three limits send people looking. Copilot works with US-based accounts only, so Canadians can't connect their banks. There's no Android or Windows version. And its Money Assistant and MCP connector are public betas with a waitlist, so AI answers about your money aren't guaranteed when you sign up.

Sprout shares one of those limits: it isn't on Android either. If you need Android, look at Monarch Money, YNAB, Quicken Simplifi, PocketGuard, or Empower. If you need Canadian banks or AI answers today on Apple devices, Sprout is the closest fit.

How we picked

We started from the reasons people leave Copilot and scored each alternative on how well it fills those gaps. Every price and feature comes from the company's own pages, checked on October 13, 2026. Five criteria set the order:

  • Canada: does it connect Canadian banks, and does it keep CAD straight?
  • AI you can use today: generally available chat over your own data beats a waitlist.
  • Apple apps: native iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps, since that's why many people chose Copilot.
  • Effort: how much setup and weekly upkeep the app needs.
  • Hands off your money: whether the app stays read-only or upsells banking and investing.

Sprout AI is our product, made by MindCrafters LLC, and we rank it first because it scores best on the criteria above. That ranking is our judgment. No company paid to appear on this page, and links to other apps are plain links with no affiliate payments. Where another app beats Sprout, its entry says so.

Copilot Money and the alternatives at a glance

No single app fixes every Copilot limit. Sprout covers Canada, the Mac, and AI chat today, but not Android. Monarch covers Android, Canada, and AI, but not the Mac. Pick the gap that matters most to you, then check the row.

Price is close across the paid apps. Copilot is $95 a year, Sprout AI and Monarch Money are $99.99, YNAB is $109, and Quicken Simplifi lists at $84.99 in the US App Store. PocketGuard is $74.99, and Empower's dashboard is free.

Moving from Copilot to Sprout

The switch takes a few minutes, and you can keep Copilot running until you're sure. Sprout doesn't import Copilot's budgets or rules, and it doesn't need them. Your banks supply the transactions, and your questions do the rest.

If you have Canadian accounts that Copilot couldn't reach, connect those too. Sprout keeps CAD and USD in their own currencies, so a question about last month shows each currency's total separately instead of mixing them.

  1. Try the sample data first

Sprout opens with fictional sample data, so you can ask a few questions and see how answers look before you connect a bank.

  2. Connect through Plaid

Pick the accounts you want Sprout to read. Plaid runs the bank sign-in, so Sprout never sees your bank password, and you can disconnect an account at any time.

  3. Ask the questions you used charts for

Try "What did I spend on groceries last month versus the month before?" or "List my subscriptions and what they cost per year." Each answer names the accounts and dates it used.

  4. Cancel Copilot when you're ready

Run both for a week or two and compare one monthly total. Then cancel Copilot wherever you subscribed, in the App Store or on its website.

Common questions

Straight answers.

Does Copilot Money work in Canada?

No. Copilot's FAQ says it works with US-based accounts only and is not available outside the US. Canadians who want a similar Apple-first app can use Sprout AI, which connects eligible Canadian banks through Plaid. See Sprout in Canada.

Is Copilot Money on Android?

No. Copilot runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the web. Sprout AI isn't on Android either. If you need Android, Monarch Money, YNAB, Quicken Simplifi, PocketGuard, and Empower all support it.

Is Copilot's AI assistant available to everyone?

Not yet. Copilot's Money Assistant has been a public beta with a waitlist since April 2026, and its MCP connector for AI assistants is a waitlisted beta too. In Sprout, chat is how the app works, and its Claude connector is live now. See Sprout for Claude.

Which Copilot alternative has a Mac app?

Sprout AI is the alternative on this list with a native Mac app in the Mac App Store. Monarch, YNAB, Simplifi, PocketGuard, and Empower run in a browser on a Mac. See Sprout on Mac.

Is Sprout AI cheaper than Copilot Money?

No. Sprout is US$99.99 a year and Copilot is $95 a year, so Copilot is a few dollars cheaper. Copilot's free trial is also longer: one month versus Sprout's 3 days on iPhone. Sprout's edge is coverage and AI: Canadian banks, generally available chat, and a Claude connector.

Can Sprout budget like Copilot?

Sprout doesn't keep category budgets or rollovers. It answers budget questions instead, like "Am I on pace to spend more than $600 on dining this month?" If line-by-line budgets are what you love about Copilot, Monarch or YNAB will feel more familiar. See budgeting with Sprout.

Ask Sprout where your money went.

Connect your accounts read-only, ask in plain English, and get the number with the receipts. 3 days free on iPhone if eligible.
